- Netizens react to EXO fans holding truck sign protest in front of the SM Building
EXO have been in the midst of some controversy ahead of their recent comeback with the news that Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin were attempting to terminate their contract with SM Entertainment. The issues were supposedly resolved ahead of the group's comeback, however, it didn't stop fans from continuing to speculate on what was really happening at SM Entertainment. While EXO was able to make a successful comeback, the group continued to face small controversies with fans unhappy with the members' styling, because of the group's delayed filming of 'Killing Voice', or for canceled preorders for the group's album 'EXIST'. On July 19 KST, EXO fans gathered trucks in front of the SM building in protest of the company's treatment of the group. The trucks displayed messages, such as "Aren't you embarrassed to sit in a building that EXO raised with their money while you subdue them? Promote EXO like the other artists at your agency!" and "Are you styling EXO with your feet? You can keep the oily hairstyles for yourselves, stop being careless with EXO's perfect faces." In response, Korean netizens on an online community shared their opinions on the signs. "Should I work as a truck dealer... It seems like it would be a good living... but it seems there are a lot of competitors haha." "Whether or not the building was built with EXO's money, it's a statement that can offend other artists and fans who come and go to SM." "What about BoA and TVXQ, what are you talking about? Why are you ignoring Girls' Generation?" "If it's a TV promotion or something.. If you're at the level of EXO, isn't it your will whether you go? Why is it always the agency's fault..." "The building was built up by EXO, that's what Key and BoA said in a variety show before." "It is absurd to say that they built the building right after BoA and Key said that they would lift up their juniors. During the heyday of EXO, TVXQ, Girls' Generation, and Super Junior, all of them went on tours with great success. If you want to talk about building the company, BoA was the one who went and made money overseas while the company was struggling." "Didn't the seniors invest a lot of money to make that EXO in the first place...? But what kind of building are they saying they built... It's all just circulation, and it's not like EXO saved SM from dying..." "It's obvious that they fought with their agency, but isn't it strange that the promo is still active?"
- D.O. releases moody pictorial with 'Marie Claire'
EXO's D.O. captivated viewers with a unique and commanding aura in the August issue of 'Marie Claire'. During the interview, D.O. expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with director Kim Yong Hwa once again and to be cast alongside Seol Kyung Goo. He revealed his thoughts on participating in 'The Moon', stating, "It was a ridiculously good opportunity. There were many scenes that had to be filmed separately, and I had to imagine and evoke emotions on my own. My biggest concern was expressing these extreme emotions while wearing a space suit and being suspended by wires." Check out previews of D.O. from the August issue of 'Marie Claire', below.

On this day, EXO opened their segment by performing their hit song "Growl". Next, the members of EXO brought viewers on a trip down memory lane by recreating the human tree from the introduction to "Wolf". - EXO's stylist faces backlash for the outfit choices on Mnet's 'M Countdown'
EXO, known for their captivating 'cool sexy' charm, has returned triumphantly to the stage. They kicked off their comeback on Mnet's 'M Countdown' on July 13, followed by electrifying performances on KBS2TV's 'Music Bank,' and MBC's 'Show! Music Core' which will respectively take place on July 15, and SBS' 'Inkigayo' on July 16. These appearances set the stage for their highly anticipated title track, "Cream Soda," from their latest 7th album 'EXIST.' The title song, "Cream Soda," is an enchanting composition that beautifully compares the feeling of falling in love to the soft and exhilarating taste of a cream soda. Its lyrics resonate deeply with fans, leaving a lasting impression. However, EXO's first comeback performance on 'M Countdown' received mixed reactions from fans. Many expressed disappointment with the group's outfits. Xiumin donned a shimmering top and bottom, while Sehun rocked a zebra-patterned jacket. Baekhyun, on the other hand, sported a pink fur jacket with an extravagant necklace embellishment. D.O. opted for a striped suit, Chen donned a glossy jacket, while leader Suho and Chanyeol matched satin shirts with jeans and black pants, respectively. Fans voiced their opinions, with some questioning the cohesion of their outfit choices. Criticisms arose regarding the lack of unity in their styling and the excessiveness of shiny shirts, glitter, and fur. Some even compared their fashion to the outdated nightclub styles of the 90s. Angered fans and netizens commented, "Are those outfits fitting for their first music program performance?" "There's no unity and there's just too much glitter and fur," and "They look like tryhard guys at a nightclub in the 90s." Some advised that the group would look better with just matching white t-shirts and jeans with a suit jacket. Meanwhile, EXO released their 7th full album 'EXIST' on July 10 and features a total of 9 tracks, including their title "Cream Soda."
- Fans angered at SM Entertainment for canceling EXO 'EXIST' pre-orders.
EXO released their highly-anticipated 7th full-album 'EXIST' on July 10. And so far, they're setting records as SM Entertainment's best artist on different charts such as iTunes, YouTube, TikTtok, Billboard, Melon, Spotify, and more. However, EXOLs are unsatisfied with SM's "mistreatment" of EXO's comeback. The initial concern raised by the EXO-L fan community pertains to an apparent discrepancy in YouTube view counts. Despite Cream Soda's music video claiming the top spot on YouTube Music's Worldwide chart for a duration of at least two days, and EXO's 'Killing Voice' performance amassing six million views within a mere two-day period, the music video shockingly registered a total of only ten million views over a four-day span. Responding to this anomaly, fans reached out to YouTube administrators. The administrators affirmed that the view count is associated with the SM Entertainment channel. On a different note, EXO has garnered a remarkable 1.6 million pre-orders for their 7th full-length album. However, on the day of the sale commencement, fans were hit with emails from retailers announcing delays in album shipping. The cause, as stated, was the insufficient supply of album copies by SM Entertainment. Adding to the dismay, a subset of fans was taken aback by emails stating their pre-orders had been abruptly canceled. Compounding the situation were the persistent appeals from the EXO-L US fanbase for a purchase link to buy 'EXIST,' the album, within the USA. Despite the announcement being made less than two weeks before the closure of pre-orders, the group purchases were unfortunately declared canceled. The sequence of events left a wave of disheartened fans, who had made strenuous efforts to secure album orders, only to see their endeavors come to naught. Furthermore, SM Entertainment addressed the mounting complaints by attributing the debacle to past instances of "overstocking issues". This response only served to stoke the fans' ire, as they firmly believe the essence of a pre-order period is to afford companies a precise forecast of the number of albums that need to be produced and stocked, thus preventing such inventory-related fiascos.
