BTS announce upcoming Disney Plus documentaries with ‘candid stories that have never been told’

BTS might be on a hiatus, but fear not fans, you’ll still be able to see them on your screens.

The immensely popular band, featuring seven members – Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook – have announced Disney docuseries which will premiere next year.

BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star will showcase ‘the daily lives, thoughts and plans’ of the group’s members ‘as they prepare for their second chapter,’ following the news earlier this year that the band were taking a break to focus on solo projects.

The collaboration between Disney and BTS was teased earlier this year, along with two other titles, the 4K concert film BTS: Permission To Dance On Stage – LA and reality show In the Soop: Friendcation which stars BTS member V alongside Parasite movie actor Woo-shik Choi and rapper Peakboy.

Sharing the exciting news, Disney announced today: ‘It’s time for the second chapter.

‘Chart the incredible journey of pop icons BTS in the new docu-series BTS MONUMENTS: BEYOND THE STAR, an exclusive #DisneyPlusSG series coming soon.’

As if that wasn’t enough, Disney also announced on social media that J-Hope would be starring in a behind-the-scenes upcoming documentary, featuring never-before-seen interviews.

Reflecting on their desire to grow individually, RM said in the clip announcing the hiatus: ‘I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature.

‘You have to keep producing music and keep doing something.’
